In the process of trying to perfect my website and implement some useful recommendations I received over in the Website Reviews forum, I ran into a perplexing problem which is way beyond my troubleshooting powers.
On my Portfolio and Catalogue pages, I have a little java script to show enlarged images in tooltips when you mouse over the thumbnails. the script comes from here, and it works perfectly fine. However, when I run the site through the W3C markup validation, these pages throw up 51 errors - all of which seem to relate to the way the javascript is inserted into the html.
I really like the mouseover effect and wouldnt want to lose it, but Id like the site to be valid html........ Can anyone think of a compromise?
Two other things Im having trouble with - one, the index page is doing a very weird thing in Firefox (works fine in IE, shockingly - this is probably the first time Im writing these words where the title and nav bar slip downwards for some reason (on all other pages they sit as they should). Now I havent done anything to the code that Im aware of to make them do this (well obviously I have done something but I am unaware of it) - if anyone can find it Ill be very grateful as its driving me to distraction.
two - and this is a little one but again it just bugs me - if you look at the left-hand side menu which is included in the left panel on every page except the frontpage, you see that on the about us page it is a few pixels to the right in comparison to all the other pages. Again I cant find whats making it move like this.....
Im sorry this is such a mess of a post, hope the questions are reasonably clear. I wont post code as I dont know where the errors are and it would be too much to post it all - the site is www.celandinewebdesign.com
any help greatly appreciated.
